The School is born from the collaboration between the Centro Conservazione e Restauro "La Venaria Reale" and the University of Milan with the aim of developing training activities to study the knowledge of techniques and tools whose use is still not widespread in the field of cultural heritage.
During the three days the theoretical principles of Calorimetry and Thermal Analysis (Isothermal Calorimetry, DSC, Thermogravimetry, TMA and DMA) and the related instrumentation will be presented, through case studies and applications to cultural heritage.
In the context of the School, the topics dealt with will offer the tools to start collaborations and applied experiments, in addition to an increase in technical and scientific skills.
The participants will be able to acquire a basic competence for the collection of micro samples to be studied and for the planning of artificial aging treatments that can reproduce the degradation of the materials, spontaneous or induced by damage. The laboratory experience adds an adequate awareness of the instrumental sensitivity and the importance of combining Calorimetry and Thermal Analysis with other types of investigation.
Students and professionals working in the field of cultural heritage
The School is divided into three days. On the first day, an INTRODUCTORY THEORETICAL LESSON will be held in which the essential cognitive elements will be provided to tackle, in the next two days, the insights and technical sessions proposed in the WORKSHOPS.
For participation in the workshops of 12 and 13 February: 180 euros
