In complex systems such as the residence-museums, integrated environmental monitoring and conservative studies of the decorated surfaces of the halls and on the collections allow the Centro to schedule routine and non-routine maintenance and develop risk mitigation procedures.
The Centro devises conservative monitoring programs for all decorated surfaces, stucco and stonework in the halls of the residences. These activities involve the use of platforms to verify the state of conservation of materials at higher levels, and for rendering them safe. The activity programs are decided annually on the basis of the periodic reports drafted by the restorers themselves. Particular attention is paid to monitoring the decorated surfaces of the Galleria Grande and the Church of Sant’Uberto at the Reggia di Venaria.
Through periodic inspections, scheduled depending on the complexity of the visit itineraries and collections, the restorers analyse works on show looking for connections between any alterations observed and the possible causes. This activity is part of routine maintenance procedures, and any conservation emergencies are reported promptly after the routine inspections. Any specific interventions or on-site works are then scheduled with staff of the residence-museum. The Centro is particularly involved with Residences of the Royal House of Savoy including the Reggia di Venaria, the Palazzina di Caccia of Stupinigi, the Apartments of Borgo Castello de La Mandria.
