The crowdfunding campaignUnveiling the past, protecting the future”, supported by Intesa Sanpaolo and active on the the For Funding Platform, It was extended until the end of March.
It is therefore still possible to support the research activities of the Restoration Conservation Centre ‘La Venaria Reale’, contributing to the development of advanced tools and methodologies for the knowledge and protection of cultural heritage.
Thanks to all the people, organizations and partners who have supported the campaign to date. In particular, we would like to thank the guests who participated in the event of 21 November 2025 and contributed to achieving the first important result. With the support it has received, the Centre will be able to launch the acquisition of new scientific instruments, which are essential to strengthen the use of non-invasive diagnostic techniques, which make it possible to study cultural heritage in depth without altering its subject matter.
The priorities identified include a number of key instruments:
⁇ A Raman spectrometer with integrated imaging system: an innovative technology that allows us to create very high-resolution chemical images, of which we would become pioneers at an international level. This tool will allow you to study materials, painting techniques and degradation phenomena with a level of detail never reached before.
⁇A spectrometer for XRF mapping: an advanced instrumentation capable of mapping the elementary distribution of materials, revealing precious details about the creative process of artists. Thanks to this technology we will be able to discover repentances and even paintings hidden under the surface, contributing to the knowledge and conservation of the works.
⁇A FORS spectrometer: a non-invasive system that allows the identification of pictorial materials through the analysis of reflectance properties in visible and near-infrared. Thanks to its portability and rapidity of acquisition, it represents a fundamental support for the study of the works in situ, from which it is not possible to take samples.
⁇ A camera for infrared reflectographies: a technology essential for the sub-surface investigation of works of art, capable of revealing preparatory drawings and compositional changes. This camera displays elements invisible to the naked eye, providing crucial information about the creative process and the authenticity of the works.
These instruments represent only a part of the devices needed to upgrade the Centre's laboratories. The extension of the campaign until 31 March 2026 makes it possible to continue the process, with the aim of completing the fundraising for the purchase of this first instrument for scientific research applied to the conservation of cultural heritage.
