Higher education

Higher education in the field of conservation and restoration, together with research into materials and techniques, is the Centre’s main statutory objective.

The agreement between the Centre and the University of Turin enabled the activation of the Master's Degree in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage, enabling under DLGS 42/2004, with the aim of training professional restorers.

Activities

The School of Higher Education (SAF)

  • actively participates in the organisation of the Degree Course and coordinates the practical restoration activities within the laboratories and on external construction sites. It also offers students of the Degree Course further opportunities for in-depth study by organizing seminars, workshops, training courses, and educational outputs in relation to the different areas of specialization.
  • promotes collaborations with research institutions, institutions and professionals to offer training and refresher tools at different levels.
  • is committed to welcoming students from other national and international educational backgrounds who are interested in carrying out internships in the Centre’s restoration laboratories.
  • through networks of collaborations, including those with the Politecnico di Torino, the University of Turin and partner bodies/institutions, it offers specialised training activities in the field of cultural heritage and activities. The experiences, designed according to didactic methodologies calibrated with respect to the different profiles, offer opportunities for comparison between the different professions and are opportunities for updating on the proposed themes.

The SAF, thanks to theregional accreditation, can provide higher technical training, higher education and master's courses of I and II level, continuing vocational training and refresher training.

Conservation and Restoration

The nine Restoration Laboratories, divided by type of materials, conduct study and design activities for the prevention, monitoring, maintenance and restoration of cultural heritage.

Science

The Scientific Laboratories carry out diagnostic and research activities applied to Cultural Heritage with advanced technological tools, including an innovative radio-tomographic machine for digital radiographs and CT scans of large objects.

Documentation

The Center develops and conducts activities of documentation and enhancement of archival and bibliographic funds of particular importance for the conservation and restoration of cultural heritage.
