In recent weeks, the director of the Restoration Laboratories and the JRC School of Higher Education La Venaria Reale, Michela Cardinali, with the head of the Wall Paintings Restoration Area, Marie-Claire Canepa, and the restorer Roberta Coco are working with a team of Egyptologists and conservators from the Egyptian Museum in Turin in the Funeral chamber of the tomb TT214 <\/strong>on the site of Deir el-Medina<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\t

It is a tomb of the First half of the reign of Ramesses II<\/strong> (1279-1213 BC), belonged to the guardian\u00a0Khaui<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

It is decorated with wall paintings compromised by complex events such as tampering caused by tomb looters and a fire that developed in adjacent environments. The looters drilled holes in the walls to search for artifacts in the chambers adjacent to the tomb, causing structural problems and instability in the preparation layers of the wall paintings. On the other hand, the overheating of the chamber during the ancient fire led to the alteration of the pigments by turning the yellows into red, while the details painted in black now appear light in colour.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\t
