The general aim of the project is to conduct technical-scientific studies on the techniques developed over the 18th century, in particular in Piedmont, to create the “Chinese” style lacquer work used to decorate and furnish the Residences of the Royal House of Savoy and palaces of Piedmont, comparing them with the original Oriental techniques, in order to develop the appropriate conservation and restoration methods, as well as preventive conservation methods and scheduled maintenance procedures for this type of artefact. The pilot conservation and restoration project for the “Chinese” Gabinetto will take place at Palazzo Graneri della Roccia in Turin.
