Questions for Eugenie Knight

Q
For Eugenie Knight concerning her last thought on an experiment using polyester threads for stretching a banner: would this experimental method work for a banner with a double-sided painting sewed into a textile fabric (wool, silk)? And theoretically speaking, would the stretching of the double sided painting be achieved stretching the textile fabric(wool, silk) around it as well?
Thank you a lot in advance.
A
Thank you for your interest in the project. The planarity of the surface of the painting must be achieved before applying the threads (through vapour treatments, suction, local pressure or any other system you consider appropriate ) . The threads or strips hold the painting in a correct position after planarity is achieved so no other stretching should be required, and the choice of using a polyester thread that in not elastic guarantees no tension on the degraded fabric.
I'm happy to answer further questions.
