SIC AND KI CULTURE

Sustainability in Conservation (SiC) is an international organisation, a branch of Ki Culture, promoting environmental responsibility in the conservation of cultural heritage and related areas.
The group was founded in 2016 to highlight the duality of the conservation of the planet together with the art and heritage it contains. SiC facilitates a unified effort to encourage sustainable conduct in conservation, building awareness and providing reliable resources and programs, as well as communication platforms to stimulate the exchange of ideas and knowledge.
Starting from January 2020, the new SiC Italia section was established to create a renewed climate with an emphasis on sustainability in the field of cultural heritage conservation in Italy. We encourage related activities, offer advice and training, support for project management (e.g. introducing our Ambassadors Programme into Italian training programmes) and develop research projects and innovative collaborations.

The Sic and Ki Culture actively participated in the second edition of the Young Professionals Forum by assigning the Ki Prize.

Social and environmental crises require an urgent and unified response from the cultural sector, including the conservation and restoration sectors. The Ki Award 2021 will reward the project that demonstrates the most innovative link with sustainable practice. This could include social or environmental sustainability, from the creative use of waste and materials to ecological treatment options or ways to engage a more diverse audience. The project must aspire to increase awareness/engagement and contribute to separating green washing from green thinking, in order to support progress towards a fair and sustainable future.

The Ki Award will be judged by the members of Ki Culture and SiC, representing a cross-section of international cultural professionals deeply involved in sustainability.

It consists of a free entry to the edition of the program promoted by Ki Culture (September 2021), the Ki Trainings, designed around the themes of the Ki Books to deepen the topics covered and give participants concrete actions to get started.
