Diagnostics and research for the conservation of Cultural Heritage
The Scientific Laboratories carry out diagnostic and research activities applied to Cultural Heritage.
The research comes from the comparison with restorers on issues of conservation and restoration; In addition, the Laboratories promote the participation of the Centre in national and international research projects.
The area has state-of-the-art technological tools, including an innovative radiotomographic machine for digital X-rays and CT scans of large objects.
For preventive conservation, the Laboratories carry out specific environmental monitoring, especially in projects for Historical Residences.
Research and innovation
Research activities carried out within the Centre
The research carried out within the Centre draws on the expertise of all the operational units, which collaborate in study, analysis and experimentation projects on the various disciplinary fronts of conservation intervention. Research projects on conservation history and restoration history, on executive techniques, on restoration materials, on the application and development of innovative methodologies and technologies for diagnostics and conservation have therefore been activated.
Studies and research are also carried out in the context of individual restoration works and are the subject of in-depth study during university training, in particular with the support of master thesis experts. The lines identified are also subject to research and development with local companies.
On the basis of the lines of investigation and the strategic areas identified, transversal and multi-year work plans are also launched, subject to partnerships and collaborations with universities and research institutions at national and international level.
