SUPPORT SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH
Among the Centre’s various strategic objectives, the development of scientific and technological innovation is the main challenge for the coming years.
The Scientific Laboratories play a fundamental role not only in supporting restoration and educational activities, but as a distinctive and cutting-edge element in national and international research projects, capable of promoting an overall strengthening of the Centre and relaunching its innovative drive through the creation of a scientific hub. JRC Heritage Research for continuous research in the conservation and preservation of cultural heritage.
SUPPORTING THE DEVELOPMENT OF SKILLS
Fostering professional growth and contributing to instrumental updating in the field of conservation and restoration is one of the Centre’s main objectives.
The nine laboratories dedicated to the different artifacts involve about 50% the Centre’s resources, which, in addition to defining projects and research for the optimal and cutting-edge approach to interventions on works from different historical areas, from ancient Egypt to the Middle Ages, from the Renaissance to contemporary art, must continuously respond to new challenges for which they need constant professional updating.
The very places where most of the study and restoration activities take place constantly require new instruments, materials and resources to accommodate the works that present problems or that must be approached with new non-invasive techniques.
SUPPORT A RESTORATION INTERVENTION WITH THE CENTRE
The Center is a promoter of partnerships between owners and patrons for interventions that require special economic coverage.
The Centre supports all phases from design to intervention, from communication to the possible exhibition and preparation of these works that can become the protagonists of an ad hoc event or exhibition.
SUPPORT THE CENTRE TO PRESERVE THE HISTORICAL COMPLEX OF THE SCHOOLS, THE GALOPPATOIO DI BENEDETTO ALFIERI AND THE LAMARMORA GALOPPATOIO
Since the design of the Conservation and Restoration Centre, a strategic approach has been pursued dedicated to prevention, risk analysis, conservation and planning of maintenance processes. With this in mind, the monitoring and verification of the state of conservation of the building in which the Foundation is based are activities that are constantly carried out.
As part of the checks carried out during the last four months of 2021, some significant problems emerged that require corrective action in order to ensure adequate standards of safety, accessibility and healthiness of the environments.
The growing demand for spaces to be devolved to scientific laboratories and educational activities requires new environments suitable for welcoming scientists, students, teachers and restorers: The solution is to expand the existing laboratories and convert the repository into a scientific research space (JRC Heritage Research).
