Enhancing skills for Heritage Conservation.
2022-2025: Piedmont – Syria Know-how Exchange
Funded by the Piedmont Region, the program promotes the exchange of expertise between the professionals of the JRC and the Directorate General of Antiquities and Museums of Syria (DGAM) for the definition of a project for the conservation and restoration of the ceiling of the Damascene Hall of the National Museum of Damascus.
The initiative included:
- Online training and insights on the most advanced wood restoration techniques;
- Intensive workshop in Venaria (March 2024): 13 days of activity for 5 DGAM professionals, dedicated to the study of materials and innovative methodologies for the conservation of wooden artefacts;
- Joint elaboration of the intervention project for the restoration of the Damascena Hall.
Alongside technical activities, the programme included awareness-raising and dissemination of results, fostering the development of international networks and the strengthening of professional relations in the field of cultural heritage conservation.
