Knowledge Exchange in Conservation and Innovative Management of Cultural Heritage

The project, carried out under the European funding programme KEP (Know-how exchange Programme) of the CEI (Central European Initative) aimed at supporting the transfer of competences from EU organisations to organisations from non-EU countries, involved scientists, conservators and collaborators of the JRC, together with experts from the Sant’Agata Foundation for the Economy of Culture in training and strengthening the skills of a group of officials and conservators of the Directorate for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of North Macedonia. The activities included on-line theoretical workshops and practical exercises on specific case studies located in the historic center of Skopje and at the site of the Orthodox Cathedral of Hagia Sophia of the city of Ohrid, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979. The objective of the activities was the strengthening of the managerial and technical-scientific skills of professionals operating in the field of conservation of the Cultural Heritage of North Macedonia through the sharing of methodologies, good practices and case studies to implement the capacities to develop sustainable and efficient territorial and heritage conservation strategies.
