l project Guidelines for the restoration of photography. Conservation dialogue tools, promoted by Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture and from Fondazione Centro per la Conservazione e il Restauro dei Beni Culturali ‘La Venaria Reale’, was created with the aim of defining a shared framework of reference for the protection, restoration and conservation of the photographic heritage. In an area characterized by a strong heterogeneity of materials, techniques and conservation contexts, the project aims to promote a structured comparison between professionals, institutions, research centers and museums and archives, in order to identify common criteria, methodologies and operational tools.

From October 2025 to February 2026 took place
the meetings of the technical-scientific table and the activities of the working groups, articulated on the main themes envisaged by the project: lexicon and documentation, restoration work, preventive and planned conservation, emergency management (first aid). This path of deepening and comparison has laid the foundations for a shared reflection that now opens up to the professional and scientific community.
