How do you keep a historical dress?

The JRC La Venaria Reale offers the advanced training course “The evolution of seams in tailoring”, dedicated to the study of sewing techniques used in the manufacture of historical clothes between the 16th and 19th centuries.

The workshop aims to address the evolution and use of the various stitches used in tailoring to create historical dresses. The training will be divided into two parts, one of theory and one of practice. The theory lessons will illustrate the various types of points and their use in tailoring between the sixteenth and nineteenth centuries, through images and direct analysis of ancient clothes. In practice, however, each student will make samples with the points analyzed, using different varieties of yarns and materials.
