04mc06-AL-2009_Nichelino, Stupinigi Hunting Lodge, Stool, inv. 760
Facilitated description:
The stool in gilded wood and red fabric was made at the end of the 1700s.
The stool is kept at the Hunting Palace of Stupinigi.
The La Venaria Reale Conservation and Restoration Centre restored the stool in 2009.
The restorers removed the green color with a scalpel (tool with sharp blade).
They cleaned the golden parts and painted the lacks of gilding with watercolors.
In the end, they put a protective product against the sun's rays and dust.
Abstract of the intervention:
Restoration
The restoration of the Piedmontese workshop stool did not include any intervention on the support. For the decorative coating, the green colour has been mechanically removed by means of scalpels. In addition, gilding cleaning and pictorial integration with watercolors were carried out. A protective film was spread over the entire surface.
