The fans are painted wooden furnishings that hang on the walls and have two candle holders.
Giuseppe Maria Bonzanigo made the two fans at the end of the 1700s.
The two fans represent summer and spring.
The Conservation and Restoration Centre "La Venaria Reale" restored the fans in 2007 on the occasion of an exhibition.
Restorers have reconstructed the missing wooden parts.
They treated the candlesticks with rust-proof products.
They cleaned the fans and filled the color gaps with watercolors.
Eventually they used paint colors to paint the damaged parts of the candlesticks.
Abstract of the intervention:
The restoration of the two fans attributed to Giuseppe Maria Bonzanigo was carried out in 2007 in view of the exposure of the fans to the exhibition The Palace of Venaria and the Savoy. Art, magnificence and history of a European court held at Reggia di Venaria, 12 October 2007 - 30 March 2008.
Restoration
The restoration included the integration and reconstruction of the missing wooden parts with epoxy resin and the treatment of the metal support of the candlesticks with anti-rust. In addition, cleaning and pictorial additions to pastels and watercolors were carried out. The pictorial film of the candelabras has been consolidated and cleaned. Finally, the pictorial integration of the two metal arms was carried out with paint colours.
