Abstract of the intervention:
Restoration
The chandelier of the bedroom of the King's apartment (Stupinigi's Hunting Palace) has been dismantled in order to carry out a diversified cleaning for each material. On the iron elements were carried out cleaning dowels that highlighted a layer of silver color below the paint. Thanks to the XRF analysis, this layer was identified as tin-plating. Therefore, it was decided to proceed with the removal of the paint. Subsequently, the brass elements were cleaned and the three welded brass arms were welded. The anchoring elements of the metal structure (screws, nuts, bolts, etc.) were mechanically cleaned from iron corrosion products. The glass sconces have been cleaned by immersion and compensation in the cracked areas. The wooden candles have been repainted with the same shade. Finally, the electrical system was restored and the glass components were reassembled.
