Photographic documentation relating to the intervention carried out on the painting depicting theAdoration of the Magi (Master Savoyard).
Simplified description
The work "Adoration of the Magi" of the Savoy area is a painting on panel of about 1425-1450 preserved at the Savoy Gallery in Turin.
The restorer Pinin Brambilla Barcilon restored the work in 2005-2006 under the direction of Paola Astrua.
The restoration was carried out on the occasion of an exhibition organized in 2006 at the Palazzina della Promotrice delle Belle Arti in Turin.
The pictorial film was in good condition, but the dust that covered the entire surface made the painting opaque and dark.
The back of the support had movable crossbars.
The restorer cleaned the dust from the back and front of the painting and removed the retouching.
He improved the pictorial integration (reconstruction of the material or color of missing parts) of the seventies of the twentieth century with neutral shades.
He performed the stuccoing (a white layer of plaster and glue that extends inside a lack and that forms a smooth and uniform base on which to paint the additions) of two slits on the front of the painting with watercolor colors and paint.
He also cleaned and gilded the frame again.
