Restoration report and photographic documentation relating to the intervention on the Clipeus of St. Ambrose in polychrome stucco.

Works supervision: Sandrina Bandera.

Facilitated description

The work "Clipeo di Sant'Ambrogio" is a stucco sculpture of the second half of the 900 AD preserved at the Diocesan Museum in Milan.
The restorer Pinin Brambilla Barcilon restored the work in 1977-1980 under the direction of Sandrina Bandera.
The restorer removed the nineteenth-century repaintings from the incarnates, from the gilding of the frame, from the black color of the background and from the red of the dress.
He did not remove the sixteenth-century repaintings.
