Restoration report (06/1993-03/1994) and photographic documentation relating to the painting Jesus and the Adulteress by Tintoretto.

Facilitated description

The work "Jesus and the adulteress" by Tintoretto, now known as "Christ and the adulteress", is a painting on canvas of about 1546-1547 preserved at the Archbishop's Curia of Milan.
The restorer Pinin Brambilla Barcilon restored the work in 1993-1994 under the direction of Simonetta Coppa.
Ha pulito il retro del dipinto e lo ha ritensionato (riposizionato sul telaio per mantenerlo nella corretta posizione, per evitare una modifica della forma e un problema agli strati di colore del dipinto).
He cleaned and treated the structure against xylophagous insects (insects that feed on wood and damage the work).
It removed particulate deposits (deposits of dust and dirt, due to atmospheric agents) from the pictorial surface.
For the additions (reconstruction of the material or color of missing parts), the restorer used glazes (transparent color layer).
