Restoration report (06/06/1986-10/11/1986) and photographic documentation relating to the intervention on the painting Madonna and Child by Ambrogio Lorenzetti.
Facilitated description
The work "Madonna with Child" by Ambrogio Lorenzetti is a painting on panel of 1320-1323 preserved at the Pinacoteca di Brera in Milan.
Restorer Pinin Brambilla Barcilon restored the work in 1986.
He treated the board against xylophagous insects (insects that feed on wood and damage the work) and carried out the cleaning (cleaning the surface of the work of art from the dirt deposited over time).
It has consolidated (make the surfaces more stable) and fixed the color with glue injections.
Removed the paint with solvents and mechanical techniques.
Previous cleanings had removed glazes (transparent layer of color) and the original gold.
The restorer Pinin Brambilla has recovered some light effects.
He lightened the decorations and makeovers to preserve the integrity of the painting.
Filled gaps (missing parts) with glazes (transparent layer of color).
