Facilitated description

The work "Pala Portuense" by Ercole de' Roberti, now known as "Virgin Enthroned with the Child, Saints Anne, Elizabeth, Augustine and Blessed Pietro degli Onesti", is a painting on canvas from 1479-1481 preserved at the Pinacoteca di Brera in Milan.
The restorer Pinin Brambilla Barcilon restored the work in 1987 under the direction of Rosalba Tardito Amerio.
The restorer removed some layers of paint to distinguish the original amber veils (transparent layer of color).
He removed the old retouching in several stages.
He preserved the repainting of the blue mantle of the Madonna and the touch-ups on the face of Pietro degli Onesti.
He removed the old groutings (a white layer of plaster and glue that stretches inside a gap and forms a smooth and uniform base on which to paint the additions) and performed new groutings.
He carried out the pictorial reintegration (reconstruction of the material or color of missing parts) with paint colors.
