Restoration report and photographic documentation relating to the intervention carried out on the painting La belle jadinière, copy by Raphael Sanzio, depicting the Virgin Mary, baby Jesus and St. John the Baptist child.
It also contains: Letter from Antonella Ranaldi concerning the granting of authorisation for restoration work (2016).
Facilitated description
The work, a copy of Raphael Sanzio’s ‘La belle jardinière’, is a painting on canvas kept at the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana in Milan.
Restorer Pinin Brambilla Barcilon restored the work in 2016.
The painting on canvas was in poor condition.
The restorer cleaned the surface from dust.
The canvas was very damaged and was reinforced with a consolidating product (which makes the surfaces more stable) and re-lined (application of a reinforcement canvas on the back of a painting).
After cleaning (cleaning the surface of the work of art of the dirt deposited over time), there were deficiencies and abrasions (scratches on the surface due to rubbing) that the restorer has reintegrated (reconstructed the material or color of the missing parts).
