Simplified description

The work "St. Francis Receives the Stigmata" by Fernandez Pedro called Pedro Ispano is a painting on panel of about 1512-1516 preserved at the Savoy Gallery in Turin.
At the time of the restoration, the work was attributed to Pseudo Bramantino.
Restorer Pinin Brambilla Barcilon restored the work in 1979.
The wooden support was severely damaged by xylophagous insects (insects that feed on wood and damage the work), especially on the margins.
Two horizontal crossbars on the back caused cracks between the wooden planks.
The painted surface was fragile and the margins were covered with a piece of gilded wood.
The restorer removed the yellowed paints and crossbars on the back.
He put pieces of wood in the cracks in the boards.
Reinforced the surface and removed two layers of paint.
The most delicate phase was the removal of dark spots, which left traces visible from close up.
