Facilitated description

The works of Carlo Crivelli "Lamentation over the Dead Christ", now known as "Pietà", and "Coronation of the Virgin", now known as "Coronation of the Virgin with the Trinity and Saints", are two paintings on panel of 1493 preserved at the Pinacoteca di Brera in Milan.
Restorer Pinin Brambilla Barcilon restored the two works in 1989.
He cleaned the support from the dust sediments.
It has carried out preventive operations against xylophagous insects (insects that feed on wood and damage the work).
It has consolidated (make the surfaces more stable) fragile areas.
He removed the thick layer of paint that covered the pictorial film.
It has removed superficial layers, retouching and old grouting (a white layer of plaster and glue that stretches inside a lack and that forms a smooth and uniform base on which to paint the additions).
It has reintegrated gaps (reconstruction of the material or color of missing parts) and abrasions (scratches on the surface due to rubbing).
