Facilitated description
The work ‘Cosimo I De’ Medici’ by Agnolo di Cosimo known as Bronzino (and Aids) is a painting on a panel from the mid-1500s, housed at the Galleria Sabauda in Turin.
Restorer Pinin Brambilla Barcilon restored the work in 1982.
Previous interventions had widened vertically and thinned the table.
Under the yellowed paints there were two previous repaintings, especially in the background and at the edges.
The restorer Pinin Brambilla has recovered the inscription in golden characters on a gray background and the original colors of the robe and fur.
In the dark tones of the fur there were small cracks.
A nineteenth-century restoration added a thin white line, changing the lower edge of the painting and the positioning of the left hand.
