Facilitated description
The work "Triptych-Reliquary with Crucifixion, Annunciation and Thirty Saints" by Jacopino and Bartolomeo Da Reggio is a painting on panel of 1360-1365 preserved at the Pinacoteca di Brera in Milan.
The restorer Pinin Brambilla Barcilon restored the work in 1995 under the direction of Sandrina Bandera.
The restorer cleaned the back of the painting, recovering the golden hue of the wood.
It consolidated (make the surfaces more stable) the spongy wood at the base of the boards.
He cleaned the painted surface, removing paint and retouching.
It replaced the old groutings (a white layer of plaster and glue that stretches inside a lack and that forms a smooth and uniform base on which to paint the additions).
It has integrated gaps (reconstruction of the material or color of missing parts) with hatching (thin and small lines of color that from a distance recompose the shape of the missing part) and colors similar to the original tone.
Finally, the restorer has attenuated the abrasions (scratches on the surface due to rubbing) of the gilding.
