Facilitated description:

The bowl is an antique glass contenter.
The bowl was made during the 400-500.
The bowl is kept at the Civic Museum of Ancient Art in Turin (Palazzo Madama).
The La Venaria Reale Conservation and Restoration Centre restored the bowl in 2009. Some restoration students participated in the project.
The restorers cleaned the bowl of greasy dirt with chemicals.
They glued the broken parts with glue.
They reconstructed the missing parts with a colored resin.
In the end they painted the parts added with the restoration to make them shiny.

Abstract of the intervention:

Restoration

The restoration was carried out as part of an educational project by the teacher Marco Demmelbauer.
The glass surfaces of the bowl have been cleaned of greasy dirt deposits with pads soaked in organic solvent. After applying acrylic resin, the fragments were glued with epoxy resin. The additions were made with pigmented two-component epoxy resin and subsequently made glossy with acrylic paint.
