Facilitated description:

The goblet is an antique glass.
The chalice was made during the 400-500.
The glass is kept at the Civic Museum of Ancient Art in Turin (Palazzo Madama).
The La Venaria Reale Conservation and Restoration Centre restored the glass in 2009. Some restoration students participated in the project.
The restorers cleaned the glass of greasy dirt and glue with chemicals.
They glued the broken parts with glue.
They reconstructed the missing parts with a colored resin.
In the end they put a protective product against the sun's rays.

Abstract of the intervention:

Restoration

The restoration was carried out as part of an educational project by the teacher Marco Demmelbauer.
The intervention started with the removal of the glue by scalpels and wraps and of deposits consistent with swabs of a mixture of alcohol and water. The same mixture was used to remove traces of greasy and dusty dirt on the surface, while the deposits on the hem were treated with a different product. The fragments were consolidated with acrylic resin and then glued with two types of adhesives. The gaps were reintegrated with pigmented epoxy resin and then protected with a layer of acrylic spray resin with UV filter.
