Facilitated description:
The bottle is an antique glass object.
The bottle was made during the 400-500.
The bottle is kept at the Museo Civico d'Arte Antica in Turin (Palazzo Madama).
The La Venaria Reale Conservation and Restoration Centre restored the bottle in 2009. Some restoration students participated in the project.
The restorers have dismantled the glued parts in a previous restoration.
They glued the broken parts with new glue.
They reconstructed the missing parts with a colored resin.
In the end they put a protective product against the sun's rays.
Abstract of the intervention:
Restoration
The restoration was carried out as part of an educational project by the teacher Marco Demmelbauer.
The intervention started with the removal of previous bonding and inconsistent deposits. Subsequently, acrylic resin was inserted as a fracture intervention layer and bonded with epoxy resin. Finally, three gaps were integrated with pigmented epoxy resin in the paste. The additions were then pigmented on the inner surface with acrylic colors and on the outer one with acrylic resin with UV filter.
