Facilitated description:
The frame is of gilded wood.
The frame belongs to the painting "Santa Gertrude and Santa Lucrezia" by the painter Giovan Francesco Barbieri called Guercino.
The painting and the frame are kept at the Galleria Sabauda in Turin.
The La Venaria Reale Conservation and Restoration Centre restored the frame in 2014.
The restorers worked only on the frame.
They cleaned the frame and stopped the wooden parts that were coming off.
They filled with stucco (plate of plaster and glue) the lacks of wood.
They gilded the parts without gilding.
In the end they put a varnish to protect the frame from the sun's rays and dust.

Restoration
The intervention provided for the restoration of the only frame, on which the following operations were carried out: consolidations, surface cleaning, removal of purple touches, retouching, painting.
