Facilitated description:

Blessing Jesus is a painting.
The painting represents the bust of Jesus as he makes the gesture of blessing.
The painter Bartolomeo Cincani called Montagna created the painting in 1502.
The painting is kept at the Galleria Sabauda in Turin.
The La Venaria Reale Conservation and Restoration Centre restored the painting in 2014.
Scientists at the Venaria Center did scientific analysis to see the layer under the paint.
During the analysis they found that the hand was in a different position.
The restorers cleaned the painting from dust and removed the paintings from the old restoration.
They filled the colorless parts with watercolors.
They put a substance on the painting to protect it from the sun's rays and dust.

Abstract of the intervention:

The panel was the subject of conservation and restoration work on the occasion of the setting up of the Galleria Sabauda at the new headquarters in the Manica Nuova of the Palazzo Reale in Turin (2014). The restoration was accompanied by a multispectral diagnostic campaign and photographic documentation to investigate some of the technical characteristics of the work. Thanks to the false-colour infrared reflectography, a repentance of the artist (hand gesture) was identified.

Restoration

The intervention involved a multi-stage cleaning, which began with the removal of the most superficial layer of altered resin and the retouching above this layer. Subsequently the gaps were filled, then supplemented with watercolor colors. A protective layer was then laid out and the color revision with paint colors was performed. Finally, a final protective varnish was sprayed.
