The frame is of gilded wood.
The frame belongs to the painting "Perspective view of the church of San Giorgio in Venice" by the painter Francesco Guardi.
The painting and the frame are kept at the Galleria Sabauda in Turin.
The La Venaria Reale Conservation and Restoration Centre restored the frame in 2014.
The restorers worked only on the frame.
They cleaned the frame and stopped the wooden parts that were coming off.
They put on the frame a product against insects that eat wood.
They filled the wooden gaps with stucco (plaster and glue layer).
They gilded the parts without gilding.
In the end they put a varnish to protect the frame from the sun's rays and dust.

Restoration
The intervention on the painting Perspective view of the church of San Giorgio Maggiore in Venice, inv. 726 by Francesco Guardi provided for the restoration of the only frame on which the following operations were carried out: anti-mould treatment, consolidation of the decoese parts, grouting of gaps, surface cleaning, chromatic reintegration, structural revision and final painting.
