Facilitated description:
Nativity is a painting on canvas with a wooden frame painted in blue and gold.
The painting represents the birth of Jesus. Mary left, in the center Jesus child and on the right St. Joseph and in the background a natural landscape.
The painter Luca Signorelli painted the painting in 1497-1498.
The painting is kept at the Galleria Sabauda in Turin.
The Conservation and Restoration Center restored the frame of the painting in 2014.
The restorers cleaned the frame and stopped the wooden parts that were coming off.
They put a product against insects that eat wood.
They filled with stucco (plate of plaster and glue) the lacks of wood.
They gilded the parts without gilding.
In the end they put a varnish to protect the frame from the sun's rays and dust.

Restoration
The intervention on the painting Nativity Luca Signorelli has planned the restoration of the frame, on which the following operations have been carried out: anti-mould treatment, consolidation of the decoese parts, grouting of gaps, surface cleaning, pictorial reitegration, structural revision and painting.
The painting has been subject to previous restoration work, including that of Pinin Brambilla Barcilon.
