Facilitated description:

The throne in gilded wood and red fabric was made in 1835.
The throne is covered by a red fabric structure called a canopy.
The throne is kept at the Quirinal Palace in Rome.
The restorers of the La Venaria Reale Conservation and Restoration Center carried out a maintenance (direct actions on the works to stop the deterioration process or to strengthen its structure) of the throne in 2017.
After maintenance, the throne was exhibited at the Reggia di Venaria.
The restorers carried out a cleaning (removed dirt deposited over time or layers of old restorations) on the wooden parts.
They used a vacuum cleaner for the fabric part.

Abstract of the intervention:

The restoration of the throne and canopy of the Quirinal Palace was carried out on the occasion of the exhibition From the Royal Palaces of Italy. Treasures and symbols of Savoy royalty (Reggia di Venaria, Sala delle Arti, 25 March - 2 July 2017).

Restoration

The intervention of conservative maintenance provided for the controlled suction of the inconsistent particle with brushes and soft brushes and the fixing of the gilding parts possibly decoese. On the fabric cover, dust removal was provided through a controllable voltage micro aspirator and the stop at the border fringe of the red velvet side panels of the throne seat. In addition, the disassembly and reassembly of the work was designed for the preparation in the exhibition venue of the Reggia di Venaria.
