Facilitated description:

The coat of arms of the Dukes of Savoy is a marble sculpture (stone).
It represents the symbol of the Savoy family.
The coat of arms is kept at the Reggia di Venaria.
The La Venaria Reale Conservation and Restoration Centre restored the coat of arms in 2011 along with other works from the Castle of Moncalieri.
The restorers cleaned the coat of arms from dust.
They stopped the parts that were coming off.
They filled the cracks of the stone with stucco (plaster and glue layer).
In the end they painted the coat of arms to protect it from the sun's rays and dust.

Abstract of the intervention:

Restoration

The marble fragment has been restored together with a series of paintings and a marble bust from the Castle of Racconigi. The intervention provided for cleaning from incoherent surface deposits with suction and from deposits consistent with swabs and compresses. This was followed by the consolidation of the decoese areas and scales and the grouting of these areas and cracks. Finally, a protective was laid out.
