The crib is an object made of metal, fabric, wood, red coral (skeleton of a sea animal).
The nativity scene is the representation in small dimensions of the birth of Jesus.
The nativity scene represents Mary, Joseph and Jesus inside a building.
The crib is locked inside a glass container.
The crib is kept at the Castle of Masino in Caravino.
The Castle of Masino is an asset of the Italian Environment Fund.
The La Venaria Reale Conservation and Restoration Centre carried out a maintenance (small interventions) on the crib in 2019.
The restorers cleaned the crib of dust.
They cleaned the glass container.
They reinforced the metal parts.

Maintenance
The safety of the crib of Trapani area, preserved at the Castle of Masino, has provided for dusting operations with soft bristle brushes, the consolidation of the detached parts and the cleaning of the windows of the case that protects the work. In addition, at the level of the metal part of the case, consolidation by welding and pictorial retouching of the welded part has been provided.
