Abstract of the intervention:

Maintenance

The restoration of the Aubusson carpet, kept in the Villa Fogazzaro Roi Library (Valsolda), was carried out as part of an educational project of the Degree Course in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage at the University of Turin in collaboration with the Scuola di Alta Formazione (SAF) and the Laboratories of the ‘La Venaria Reale’ Conservation and Restoration Centre. The objective of the intervention was to involve students in the third year of the PFP3 programme in the preliminary study phases (technical and conservation data sheets, graphic documentation of the state of conservation and previous interventions, collection of the results of the diagnostic investigations carried out on the yarns) and subsequently in the operations on the work. The interventions proposed in the design phase are: thorough cleaning of the surface and conservative consolidation by sewing on the back of linen or cotton cloth supports.
