Facilitated description:
The wooden table is kept at Castello della Manta in Saluzzo.
Castello della Manta is an asset of the Fondo per l'Ambiente Italiano.
The La Venaria Reale Conservation and Restoration Centre restored the chairs in 2015.
The restorers placed the table in the anoxic chamber, an oxygen-free chamber that serves to eliminate wood-eating insects.
Then they put a product against insects that eat wood.
They cleaned the table of dust.
They repaired the parts with missing wood.
In the end they painted the table to protect it from the sun's rays and dust.
Abstract of the intervention:
Restoration
The fratino type table of the Castello della Manta has been restored as part of a project that involved interventions on various textile and furniture furnishings. The operations began with the disinfestation in anoxic chamber for a period of three weeks and the application of anti-moth product with a brush. Subsequently, the surface was cleaned from the wax layer. Finally, the cracks and deformations were healed and the surface was protected with microcrystalline wax.
