They stared at the parts of the mirror that were peeling off.
In the end they cleaned the mirror of dust.
Abstract of the intervention:
The mirror with the portrait of Carlo Emanuele III has been restored on the occasion of its setting up within the tour of the Reggia di Venaria. The work is owned by the Fondazione Accorsi Ometto of Turin.
Restoration
The intervention consisted in securing the work for exhibition purposes. As a first step, the sculpted parts at risk of falling were glued. Subsequently, the perimeter frame was removed, the mirrors were repositioned and anchored to the support. The broken mirrors were glued and anchored to the wooden support. Finally, dust was removed over the entire surface with vacuum cleaners.
