Facilitated description:

The corame is a large piece of leather that hangs on the walls. The corame was made in 1650-1670.
The corame is kept at the Museo Civico d'Arte Antica in Turin (Palazzo Madama).
The corame had already been restored in the past.
The La Venaria Reale Conservation and Restoration Centre restored the corame again in 2021 on the occasion of an exhibition in Mantua.
The restorers cleaned the corame with a vacuum cleaner and sponges to remove dirt.
In the end they glued the raised leather parts.

Abstract of the intervention:

Maintenance

The project was carried out on the occasion of the exhibition of the work at the exhibition at Palazzo Te in Mantua The walls of wonders. Court choirs between the Gonzagas and Europe (26 March – 9 June 2022).
The intervention on the parade 129/CU of the Museum of Antiquities of Turin provided for a general revision of the conservative condition. The work, in fact, has been affected by a recent restoration. In particular, the work was enlivened and a general review of the state of the front and back was made. Surface cleaning by means of macro- and micro-suction and mechanical dry treatment with the aid of rubbers was followed. Finally, there have been consolidations of small detachments and lifting of the grain of the leather.
