Facilitated description: 

 

The iron bed of the Chamber of Cavour was made in 1850. 
The bed is kept at Castello Cavour in Santena. 
The restorers of the La Venaria Reale Conservation and Restoration Centre restored the bed in 2014-2016. 
The restorers dismantled the bed and transported it to the Venaria workshops. 
They cleaned the bed of dust and dirt. 
They painted the ruined iron parts with red tempera and paint. 
They cleaned the brass parts. 
In the end they put protective substances on the different pieces.

 

 

 

 

Abstract of the intervention:

 

Restoration

The intervention on the iron bed is part of the restoration of the furnishings of the bedroom and study of Cavour of the Castello di Santena on the occasion of the refurbishment of the entire residence. 
The restoration of the bed began with the disassembly of the pieces and cleaning from dust deposits and greasy dirt. The gaps of the iron parts were supplemented with red tempera and varnish glazing. Differentiated protectives have been applied. 
The brass elements were cleaned by immersion in aqueous solution and covered with a protective.
