Facilitated description:
The view of the castle of Pollenzo from the lake is a painting on canvas.
The painter Giacinto Corsi painted the painting in 1861.
The painting is kept at the Castle of Racconigi.
The La Venaria Reale Conservation and Restoration Center did a maintenance (small interventions) on the painting in 2019 for an exhibition.
The restorers glued the parts of color and gilding that were coming off.
They cleaned the painting and the frame of the dust.
They eliminated the yellowed paint and old restoration paintings on the frame.
They filled the color gaps with putty (plaster and glue).
They painted the plastering with watercolors.
Eventually they painted the painting to protect it from the sun's rays and dust.
Abstract of the intervention:
The extraordinary maintenance work carried out on the occasion of the exhibition of the work at the exhibition Journey through the gardens of Europe from André Le Notre to Henry James set up (Reggia di Venaria Reale, 2019), interested the painting and the frame.
The intervention began with the localized stoppage of the pictorial film lifts (especially in the sky area) and the gilding parts of the frame. This was followed by the removal of deposits from the front and back with brushes and vacuum cleaners and the thinning of the yellowed varnish. The purple additions in the lower part of the frame were then eliminated and the gaps stuccoed. The fillers have been chromatically integrated with watercolors.
In the end, a final painting was carried out.
