Facilitated description: 

The blanket is made of silk with painted decorations. 
The blanket is kept at the Castle of Santena. 
The La Venaria Reale Conservation and Restoration Centre has made small interventions to improve the state of conservation of the blanket. 
The restorers sewed the ruined silk parts. 
They replaced the protective tulle (transparent fabric) placed over the blanket. 

 

 

 

 

Abstract of the intervention:

Maintenance

Maintenance of the blanket of the four-poster bed from the Castle of Santena carried out following an inspection. The protective tulle applied during a previous restoration was no longer suitable to protect the painted decoration, therefore it has been replaced. In addition, the docorate areas in a fragmentary state have been consolidated by needle.
