Cultural accessibility: Principles and Methodologies for Cultural Heritage

FIFTH EDITION, 24 – 27 September 2024, online and face-to-face activities

FINAL EVENT 27 SEPTEMBER 2024

The 2024 Young Professionals Forum programme explored best practices in the field of Universal accessibility to culture, its contents and its spasi, in line with the UN Convention and the EU Strategy for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

In cooperation with national and international experts, we will answer the following questions to reflect together on cultural accessibility and inclusive education for heritage conservation:

What does cultural accessibility mean?
How can cultural professionals make cultural sites accessible and educate on heritage conservation?
Can multiple barriers, gaps and disparities that limit participation in and accessibility to cultural heritage be reduced and eliminated?

The main objective of this new edition is to raise awareness and explore the diverse landscape of cultural accessibility, with a particular focus on: libraries, archives, archaeological sites, museums and educational initiatives for their conservation. By engaging with a network of experts, the Forum aims to deepen understanding of this multifaceted theme and outline the skills required by future cultural operators to support inclusiveness.

The aim of the Forum is to enable young cultural heritage professionals from around the world to join an international community by improving networks and skills.
