RESTURO CONSERVATION CENTER La Venaria Realehome / News / Art from Inside. Masterpieces unveiled between art and science

9 October 2025

Inaugurates today, at Palazzo Reale in Milan, the exhibition ‘Art from Inside. Masterpieces unveiled between art and science”, a multidisciplinary cultural project conceived by Fondazione Bracco, in collaboration with 24 ORE Cultura – Gruppo 24 ORE.

The exhibition offers a path of knowledge that integrates art, scientific research and diagnostic technologies, allowing to observe famous works by artists from different eras through non-invasive analyses, such as false color, UV-induced fluorescence and infrared reflectography. These investigations allow us to explore its innermost layers and reveal information useful for understanding creative and conservative processes.

The ‘La Venaria Reale’ Conservation Restoration Centre is part of the research team, together with the University of Milan-Bicocca, the University of Milan, DeepTrace Technologies and the Centro Diagnostico Italiano, contributing to non-invasive diagnostic investigations with the shared objective of promoting knowledge as a common good and enhancing the role of scientific research applied to cultural heritage.

The exhibition invites you to grasp the silent voice of matter, often neglected and relegated to the background: pigments, textures, underlying designs, signs of time, restorations. Each work is presented as a living organism, in continuous dialogue with the history, time and gaze of the observer. In this way, we propose an immersive experience capable of restoring not only the formal beauty of the works, but also the technical and human depth of the creative process.»

(Tommaso Sacchi, Councillor for Culture, Municipality of Milan)

This result is part of the project to strengthen and expand the Centre’s scientific laboratories – thanks to the crowdfunding campaign supported by Intesa San Paolo – which will be hosted in the former Galoppatoio Lamarmora in Venaria Reale and will be equipped with new instruments dedicated to advanced diagnostics, 3D technology and preventive conservation and a partnership strategy with bodies and companies in the sector to develop new diagnostic techniques, in the name of innovation, sustainability and the transfer of skills.
