From 17 October 2025 to 11 January 2026 Palazzo dei Musei hosts the exhibition dossier The Sacred Parentage of Gandolfino da Roreto. Restoration and Comparisons, promoted by the Parish of Grignasco, the Superintendence of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape for the provinces of Biella, Novara, Verbano-Cusio-Ossola and Vercelli, the Restoration Conservation Centre ‘La Venaria Reale’ and the museum.
The exhibition exhibits, for the first time side by side, two precious tables with the the Sacred Parentela o Genealogy of the Virgin painted, in the early sixteenth century, by Gandolfino da Roreto, among the protagonists of the Renaissance in Piedmont, coming from the Church of Santa Maria Assunta of Grignasco and from the Turin collections of the Madama Palace.
Since the recent restoration of Grignasco’s painting, carried out between 2022 and 2024 at the Restoration Conservation Centre ‘La Venaria Reale’, the exhibition recounts the artist’s production, his grandiose polyptychs and his unique familiarity with the iconographic theme of the Sacred Parentela, as widespread in the north of the Alps as it is rare in Italy, focusing on the descent from Sant’Anna following his three marriages.
The exhibition is housed in the permanent rooms of the Pinacoteca, in contact with the works that tell the story of art in Valsesia between the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, thus inviting a multiplicity of readings and an expanded dialogue with the museum’s heritage.
⁇ Inauguration on Friday 17 October, 5 p.m.
