PASCAL ODDONE
News from restorations
From 18 October 2025 to 6 January 2026 exceptionally in the Diocesan Museum Palazzo dei Vescovi of Saluzzo
The 18 October at 11 a.m., in the Bishops' Palace of Saluzzo in via Maghelona 7, in the presence of Msgr. Cristiano Bodo and the Soprintendente Architetto Lisa Accurti will explain the outcome of the restoration of the polyptych of the Our Lady of the Rosary by Oddone Pascale, among the masterpieces of the Church of San Giovanni.
The event is one of the celebrations of the Jubilee Year promoted by the CEI, in the context of the national project “In your name. Art speaks of community”, in collaboration with the Consulta Beni Culturali Ecclesiastici e Edilizia of the Regione Ecclesiastica Piemonte e Valle d’Aosta.
The important retablo exceptionally set up in the ancient Episcopio, dated 1535 and signed, appeared as a polyptych with movable doors, the sides of which were painted on both sides.
The great discovery was the discovery of the working side of the doors, a closed polyptych, hidden since 1668 when all the paintings were inserted in the majestic baroque altar: It depicts the Annunciation, a group of Prophets and God the Father.
The restoration work, financed entirely by the Ministry of Culture, was carried out by the ‘La Venaria Reale’ Restoration Conservation Centre under the supervision of Massimiliano Caldera for the Superintendence.
A first opening calendar includes the dates of 25, 26 and 30 October, 6 and 13 November, 3, 8, 11 and 26 December 2025, 6 January 2026, from 14.30 to 18.30.
The opening is free of charge, with the assistance of the Volunteers for Art.
