YOUNG PROFESSIONALS FORUM
EMERGING SKILLS FOR HERITAGE CONSERVATION

SECOND EDITION, 1 – 2 July 2021

The second edition of the Young Professionals Forum represents a new moment of sharing and exchange, to stimulate synergies between professionals at an international level.

The COVID-19 emergency upset our plans at first, but we are even more convinced of how important this space offered to the younger generations is. The pandemic has offered us not only obstacles but also opportunities to think differently. This is why the 2021 edition included new initiatives and insights linked to the Forum to enlarge our Community and build together a common vision.

The Forum was an opportunity to reflect on the changes developed during the state of emergency, new needs and new operational contexts. We have seen the emergence of new procedures, the introduction of new tools and the emergence of new skills.

All this and much more was discussed together during the sessions of the Young Professionals Forum.
The 2021 event featured two days of presentations, exchange, debate and networking, during which young professionals had the opportunity to share and present their activities and research, meeting established professionals, professors and researchers who will be involved in the different working sessions.

Cultural heritage professions towards the future

The impact of the current pandemic and its effects on the social, economic and cultural spheres are debated on a global scale: The survival of cultural heritage and the vital link between conservation and enjoyment, cultural heritage and community, are being measured today in new contexts.

We are witnessing a paradigm shift that will affect our future and that of our professions. For these reasons, the second edition of the Young Professionals Forum intends to offer its participants a section dedicated to ‘Cultural heritage professions towards the future’, a moment to grasp this transition, understanding the difficulties involved in overcoming it and the opportunities for redefining practices and methodologies.

New synergies were created within the Young Professionals Forum.
The Forum was born as a bridge between young professionals and beyond.
In fact, it is itself the subject of debate and stimulates new projects and important reflections.
