Accademia Carrara hosts The Carrara restores, one conference dedicated to the presentation of the most recent conservation interventions made on the masterpieces of the collection. An appointment open to the public to enter the heart of museum protection and rediscover the artistic heritage through the direct story of those who study it and take care of it.
The meeting will give rise to a dialogue between restorers and art historians focused on seven projects, different in age, technique and materials: from St. Jerome in the landscape Bartolomeo Montagna 's Our Lady of the Rose the workshop of Donatello, from Baptism of Christ Giovanni Ambrogio Landriani 's Portrait of Bruntino by Fra’ Galgario. The program will also deepen the interventions on the plaster cast by Giovanni Franchi, on two parade shields of the sixteenth century and on the boxwood micro-relief with the The Great Flood by Giovanni Giuseppe Piccini.
The meeting will be dedicated to the presentation of the most recent conservation measures carried out on some masterpieces from the Museum’s collection and will offer an opportunity for discussion between restorers and art historians.
For the occasion, the JRC will deepen
🔸the restoration of a terracotta from the 1400s in Florence: the ‘Madonna della Rosa’ of Donatello’s workshop
🔸the restoration of a work from the collection, the subject of a dissertation by a student of the Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage University of Turin in agreement with the Centre.
Participation is free with reservation required to: prenotazioni@lacarrara.it
